Name: Paul Turner
About Author: I was born in a little coal mining camp in SE Kentucky in Harlan County. The company International Harvester owned the mine where my dad worked, they owned the hospital that I was born. They owned the school I went to from the first through the ninth grade, the reason for only the ninth grade is they gave the school to the Harlan County School System and they consolidated it with Cumberland High School, and I went from Benham to Lynch, which was another little mining town with a independent school system owned by US Steel Mining Company. Looking back at those times they were not near as hard as a lot of people thought, we had a clean bed, and a warm house and 3 meals a day.
