Appalachian Studies Association
The Appalachian Studies Association was formed in 1977 by a group of scholars, teachers, and regional activists who believed that shared community has been and will continue to be important to those writing, researching, and teaching about Appalachia. (taken from ASA website). This site has a huge number of resources and educational tools to preserve. It also lets you know about upcoming conferences.
I encourage you to check out Appalachian Studies Association. You can find them at http://www.appalachianstudies.org/
